Holden Hoffpauir Arrested After Alleged Shooting Following Fight That Continued From Jennings to Lake Arthur
LAKE ARTHUR, La. — An argument that began with a physical fight in Jennings allegedly continued into another community and ultimately ended with a man being shot, according to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office.
Holden Hoffpauir, 18, has been arrested in connection with the shooting after deputies said a confrontation between Hoffpauir and another man continued from Jennings to Lake Arthur early Wednesday morning.
Shooting on Hundley Road
Deputies responded at approximately 2:30 a.m. on August 12, 2026, to the area of Hundley Road in Lake Arthur after receiving a report of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
According to authorities, Hoffpauir and the victim had already been involved in a physical altercation earlier that night in Jennings. The confrontation reportedly continued after the two encountered each other again in Lake Arthur.
Investigators said Hoffpauir allegedly armed himself during the confrontation.
After another physical fight, authorities allege that Hoffpauir fired a gun, striking the victim and causing life-threatening injuries.
The victim was transported by air to a trauma hospital for treatment.
Holden Hoffpauir Arrested
Hoffpauir was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested.
He faces several charges, including:
- Attempted second-degree murder
- Aggravated second-degree battery
- Illegal discharge of a weapon
His bond was set at $80,000.
The charges are allegations, and Hoffpauir is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
